My Family Photography Session- Orange County Family Photographer

Ten years ago, I met the most amazing person that would become my husband, Mikko. Through this marriage, I gained two beautiful daughters – Hayley and Mia. When Mikko suggested taking family photos while Hayley was home during her Christmas break, I realized that I had taken many photos of the girls throughout the years – but never of all of us together as a family.

I got to appreciate what my clients go through at their end before a shoot. Hayley has always had beautiful natural blonde hair, but unexpectedly this time came home as a brunette instead!  After the initial surprise, I realized she actually looked great as a brunette. Pulling together the wardrobe did not go as originally planned either. I had a black color theme in mind, but wanted to break it up a little. Hayley was going to wear a black top with white piping in it, a top that belongs to her younger sister. My mistake was waiting until the day of the shoot to discover that the top did not fit her. Despite surprises and last-minute wardrobe changes, we pulled it off and got loving pictures of the whole family as well a beautiful image of the sisters with their Dad.  I guess the whole thing just went down like the name of a classic play by Shakespeare: “All’s well that ends well”.

P.S. I surprised Mikko for his birthday with a few beautiful wall portraits from the shoot!!

Bailey Class of 2017 – High School Senior Photography

Second time photographing Bailey. First time was many years ago for a family session. It was nice to see her and catch up with Bailey and her Mother.
005We photographed at the Lab/Camp in Costa Mesa. Which is such a photographers heaven with great backdrops and the light is perfection. 006The pretty white dress Bailey is wearing is for the dress she will wear during graduation. 007113013 copyI have photographed many high school seniors and families at the Lab/Camp. I always have at least one image with a background I never used before like this floral backdrop that is wall paper across from a hair salon.
062002001Bailey plays the piano and has a love for music so I created this image with the musical notes. 003

Mia Class of 2017 High School Senior Session with Guitar

In Mia’s second shoot, we focus on her guitar. She has been taking guitar lessons at school during her senior year. Practices daily and has gotten so good.
DSC_7463 copyDuring the shoot, we had three locations for a 90 minutes session. I had this planned out before hand so it could be really quick. DSC_7347DSC_7421DSC_7428I found this building that was so colorful and perfect for the guitar images. DSC_7371DSC_7383 croppedDSC_7435DSC_7442After taking guitar images, I switched  Mia over to a dress that she wore for homecoming party during her junior year. I love this dress. Pretty in Pink!!DSC_7290DSC_7331DSC_7259Next up: Prom photos! We got the dress, too! Coming in May stay tune…..

Blair – Class of 2017 High School Senior Portraits

During Blair’s consultation, I discovered that Blair would like to incorporate bright colors for her session. The Lab/Camp aka as the Anti-Mall in Costa Mesa jumped to my mind. A perfect fit for Blair’s vision of bright color. This purple wall is so flattering to her skin tones.

Mia – Class of 2017 High School Senior Portraits

Mia is my beautiful step-daughter whom I first met when she was 10 years old. During her senior year, Mia is living with us full time, and I am taking advantage of it by creating a series of images for an album. Part 1 is at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
dsc_4178Mia has lovely hands and is ring crazy so I made sure to capture it in the photos. dsc_4187dsc_4131The morning of the shoot, I arranged for Mia to have her hair and make up done. It made her feel so special. dsc_4159dsc_4234Mia’s Dad, Mikko, helped us during the shoot. On the above image, I had Mikko hold a reflector to capture the beautiful sun light reflecting on Mia. dsc_4080dsc_4064genius-at-work-1Mikko took this image of me photographing Mia. This image gives a great perspective of a photographer at work.
dsc_4047dsc_4113-logoI gave Mia a budget for her wardrobe to buy some new clothes but we did end up using the dress below that I picked out for Mia two years ago and incorporating jeans and leather jacket that Mia wears all the time. I think it is important to use some clothes in a senior wardrobe session that they love and are a part of their everyday life. dsc_4318-logoPart II will be taken in February.
